HERBAL THERAPY

Chinese Plant Medicine

Herbs have been used by nearly all cultures for the treatment of disease. The Chinese system of herbal medicine dates back over 3000 years. The earliest texts describing the use of various plants, minerals and animals are over 2000 years old. Today the Chinese herbal pharmacy can include several thousand herbs. Herbal therapy is a fundamental component of traditional Chinese medicine. With well administered herbal therapy a practitioner can clear pathogenic factors, restore healthy tissues and functions, and even slow aging.

Herbal prescriptions are balanced combinations. Each formula is composed of 5-15 different ingredients. They are designed to address the root imbalance of any condition while treating the symptoms and balancing their effects. For example, herbs that can move the qi (energy) and blood are often combined with herbs that reduce inflammation and ease pain. This balancing of herbs is also designed to reduce any potential side effects and therefore improve compliance and speed recovery
