DRUM FLOW SESSIONS

What are Drum Flow Sessions?

Drum Flow Sessions are community rhythm events. Rhythm is as close to us as our own heartbeat. We can enter into the exploration of rhythm as a form of moving, hearing and feeling meditation. Shared rhythms hold our attention while allowing room for creativity, communication and collaboration.

Come participate in the experience of shared “Drum Flow”.

Across time and cultures, joining in shared rhythms has been a therapeutic experience. Skill isn’t necessary; anyone can find an entry point into rhythmic flow. That flow can carry us and provide a meditative space to explore, communicate, and let go.

“…being completely involved in an activity for its own sake. The ego falls away. Time flies. Every action, movement, and thought follows inevitably from the previous one, like playing jazz. Your whole being is involved, and you're using your skills to the utmost.”

~ Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

Many of us have experienced captivating moments—running, writing, swimming, or gardening—where deep immersion takes over. In these instances, a sense of effortlessness and timelessness prevails. Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a World War II prisoner of war, was deeply affected by the suffering he witnessed. This experience fueled his interest in cultivating human contentment. After researching how engagement in immersive activities enhances happiness, he introduced the term "flow state."
