SUMMARY:Drum Flow Session- May 7th
DESCRIPTION:NEWS\nRhythms are rising at the VA. \nThanks to the volunteer dedication of Julie and Mandi\, who booth kindly took a day off work\, we are spreading rhythms at the VA!  The VA hosted a Whole Health event introducing the variety of complimentary care options they offer vets. Our team provided two quick\, but lively Drum Flow Sessions. Vets reported feeling a reduction in pain\, a quieting of anxiety\, feelings of community\, an awakening of creativity\, and a return to a long forgotten  childlike wonder.  Feet were tapping and smiles were shared and laughter flowed. Good medicine! \nIf you know of someone who might be interested in volunteering to facilitate these sessions\, or others like them\, please invite them to our May 7th  gathering at 824 Main! \nContributions:\nThese events are made possible through your donations. All contributions will go towards supporting this project\, our extension Drum Flow Sessions at the VA\, our event space\, and all of our necessary equipment. Use this link or the QR code below to contribute. We are also enthusiastically welcoming donated drums and/our other percussion equipment. Thank you! \nIn additional to financial contributions\, there are other ways people can help our project. For example\, some people will be donating their time as facilitators at the VA during our Drum Flow Sessions. Others are bringing instruments\, inviting friends and taking the lead on managing sessions. Thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm and engagement.

SUMMARY:Protect the Oak Forest of MB Johnson Park
DESCRIPTION:Help Protect the Oak forests along the Red River\nMB Johnson Park is one of the largest city parks in the Red River Valley. In addition to providing several open recreational areas\, there are many miles of trails that navigate the Red River and Snakey creek. Unfortunately the park has also become a habitat for the invasive shrub known as common buckthorn. Come join other volunteers in managing this invasive species and then\, enjoy some food and rhythms afterward. \n2024 Buckthorn Removal Poster \n\n\n\n\nPlease wear sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, work clothes\, and gloves. Long pants and a long-sleeved shirt recommended. \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Drum Flow Session- May 22nd - WEDNESDAY\, MB Johnson Park
DESCRIPTION:OFFICIAL LAUNCH\nOn March 22nd we will be taking Drum Flow Sessions public.  Please RSVP to help with this event! \nOur sessions have traditionally been on Tuesday nights. However\, on May 22nd we will host our Drum Flow Session on a Wednesday evening. Red River Health is working in collaboration with several specialists in the field of Land Restoration for an event on the evening of Wednesday\, May 22nd.  The event will start out with a gathering at MB Johnson Park in Moorhead at 4:30 pm. Volunteers will be introduced to the invasive species Buckthorn and learn about its impact on the native forests of our area\, After an introductory tour\, volunteers will be invited to help manage this species by pulling buckthorn from the forests. This will be followed up with a BBQl and our first public Drum Flow Session. \nVolunteers:\nPlease consider volunteering for this event. We will need support from several participants of our current sessions for this event to be a success! First we will need to transport or collection of percussion equipment to the park around 3:45. Second\, we will need a volunteer to keep the equipment secure during the land management phase of the event. Finally\, we will need facilitators available to introduce people to the equipment and facilitate a session. Please RSVP if you will be able to attend and email me if you will be able to help with any of these challenges. Deep gratitude to  you all for helping get our sessions this far. \n
